Blu Homes Updating Iconic Breezehouse to be This Year’s Sunset Idea House

Prefab home builder Blu Homes is currently working on this year’s Sunset Idea House, which will be open to the public this summer. The annual housing project by Sunset Magazine shows off the latest in home building, design trends and sustainable strategies. Blu Homes has updated the iconic Sunset Breezehouse, which was first debuted by Sunset magazine in 2005, and will open the home to the public in August in California’s Sonoma Wine Country. The more spacious version of the home features upgraded green technologies, advanced building construction and even better interaction between the indoors and outdoors.

The http://inhabitat.com/sunset-breezehouse/Sunset Breezehouse was originally designed by Michelle Kaufmann as the 2005 Sunset Idea House, and now Blu Homes is updating the classic design for the 2012 project. The new Sunset Breezehouse features a more spacious design, 16’ wide sliding glass doors, a modern elevated deck, and thoughtful exterior landscape design – including water features, outdoor seating areas and planters, a herb and vegetable kitchen garden area, and a fun Breeze Pod for a flexible detached living space. In addition, the home includes interior design elements such as an integrated wine cellar and soaring 14’ + high ceilings. This year’s Idea House sponsors include Agio®, Benjamin Moore®, California Solar Initiative, Cost Plus World Market ®, Eldorado Stone, Gladiator® Garageworks, LEE Industries, Sunbrella ®, Suntory ®, and Warmboard®.
